Aberration
Description
Deviation from an ideal image caused by imperfect optics. Axial chromatic aberration and lateral chromatic aberration only occur with multi-wavelength light because they are the effect of different color components of the spectrum. Five types of aberration occur with monochromatic or single-wavelength light: spherical aberration, comatic aberration, astigmatism, Petzval field curvature, and distortion.
